What subjects do you teach?
High School English and College and Career.

How long have you been with CDA?
Three years.

Why did you go into teaching?
I have always wanted to be a teacher. I went into teaching because I wanted students to love reading and learning as much as I did.

Why did you join the teaching staff at CDA?
I had come into contact with the school while I was a teacher evaluator. I saw how the teachers were meeting the needs of a diverse group of students in so many ways, and I wanted to be a part of that.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at CDA?
I like the way we can work with our students. It may seem like we are removed from our students, but really, we are always available to talk with them and work — over the phone or email or even in person.  It is very personal, and we know our students extremely well.

What is the CDA difference?
While we are an online school, we are still a community. The teachers meet regularly to discuss what is working and where we can improve. The students have access to the program 24/7, and the teachers are available beyond the school day because they want their students to perform well. We offer a rigorous curriculum — it is not an easy way out — but we are also a learning community.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the workday?
I love to travel, cook and spend time with my friends.
