Approximately 1,875 Cincinnati Public Schools' students will receive high school diplomas over two weeks in May in a moment they will share with family and friends.
Commencement ceremonies will be held May 14-24, with most schools holding events at the newly renovated 12,000-seat Fifth Third Arena at the University of Cincinnati to accommodate larger crowds. It’s the first time CPS has used the UC site for graduations.
Several CPS high schools will hold graduation events at smaller venues, including Music Hall and the district's Education Center.
CPS' graduation events are not open to the public; tickets are required to attend.
A total of 41 students from the Class of 2019 were named top graduates — 21 valedictorians and 20 salutatorians.
The Class of 2019 also includes 24 National Merit Semifinalists. This national distinction places them in the top one percent of high school seniors in the country. The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability based on their scores on the PSAT taken during junior year.
